What’s It All About?
Survey Seminar 2026: Readiness, Risk, and Regulatory Strategy is a focused seminar designed to help long-term care leaders strengthen survey preparedness in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. It brings long-term care leaders together for a timely and practical look at the regulatory issues shaping survey success. From emerging enforcement trends and key CMS updates to data-informed readiness and effective response strategies, this seminar is designed to help organizations reduce risk, strengthen compliance, and prepare teams to respond with clarity and confidence.
Program Objectives
New CMS changes. New survey trends. New expectations.
Stay ahead of the curve with this high impact session designed to help Tennessee providers navigate the latest federal regulatory changes. We’ll break down key updates to the State Operations Manual (Chapters 5 and 7), new expectations within the Special Focus Facility (SFF) program, and the enforcement trends shaping survey outcomes today. Participants will walk away with a clear understanding of what CMS is prioritizing now and practical strategies to prepare teams, strengthen compliance, and reduce survey risk.
Data tells a story — make sure it’s the right one.
Data isn’t just for survey week; it’s your most powerful daily compliance tool. This session shows providers how to use LTC Trend Tracker, CASPER reports, staffing indicators, and quality measures to identify vulnerabilities before surveyors do. Learn how survey teams use historical deficiencies and data patterns to target areas of concern and discover how to turn your own data into evidence of sustained compliance, strong QAPI processes, and effective past noncompliance (PNC) documentation.
Abuse IJs are rising — are you ready?
Abuse citations are rarely about the event — they’re about the response. This interactive scenario-based session walks participants through real world cases involving injuries of unknown origin, threats between residents, and escalating behavioral concerns. Attendees will practice how to detect red flags, protect residents, report timely, investigate thoroughly, and implement corrective actions that withstand survey scrutiny. Learn what surveyors expect, why abuse related IJs are increasing, and how to build a culture of rapid response and strong documentation.

Look for the Tennessee Health Care Association/Tennessee Center for Assisted Living on Facebook and YouTube.

THCA/TNCAL’s Convention & Trade Show is the association’s signature event of the year, a time when Tennessee’s long-term care professionals can come together for education, networking, and a true sense of community. This year, however, the COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges unlike any our industry has seen before. THCA’s Board of Directors and staff have been considering the feasibility of holding a major event amid social distancing recommendations, restrictions on large gatherings, and the particular dangers of the virus to the elderly population.
