An updated, comprehensive guide to long-term
care in Tennessee, including information on how to select a nursing
home, is available to the public free of charge from the Tennessee
Health Care Association.
The Guide to Long-term Care in
Tennessee is a booklet explaining the services and types of care
available not only in nursing homes but also in each of the other
care settings that make up the continuum of long-term care. It
covers payment options, including information on Medicare and
Medicaid and an introduction to long-term care insurance options.
Also, families will find a wealth of information useful in dealing
with the emotional issues involved in seeking long-term health care.
"The decision to place a loved
one in a nursing home is always a difficult one, involving complex
emotions and anxieties," said Ron Taylor, THCA’s
executive director. "This publication is designed to ease those
concerns and aid in the decision. Families need to understand what
their options are when considering long-term care placement for an
elderly loved one."
