The Communications Department writes, edits and produces THCA’s newsletter and magazine as well as its brochures and other publications. The department also handles press inquiries and serves as a resource to state media on long-term care. Working closely with the Public Relations Committee, Communications Department staff also develops and recommends plans to enhance public understanding of long-term care and creates tools to help members present a positive and professional image to the public.

The Finance & Administration Department prepares, processes and reconciles THCA’s financial transactions and reports and is responsible for the association’s health insurance and retirement plans. Finance & Administration also oversees THCA’s computers and databases as well as the association’s mailing services and receptionist duties.

The Government Affairs Department directs THCA’s efforts in the regulatory and legislative arenas, both on a state and national basis. Government Affairs advocates on behalf of the association’s members by lobbying lawmakers and other government officials regarding long-term care policies established legislatively and through rules and regulations. The department, through both inside and outside legal counsel, pursues legal actions on behalf of the association on issues affecting the industry. The department also serves as a resource for members concerning governmental issues. The Government Affairs Department works closely with THCA’s Government Affairs Committee.

Membership services is an important focus of the Tennessee Health Care Association. The Membership Services Committee and department staff are responsible for developing and recommending plans designed to enhance facility management, providing continuing education, designing annual conferences and the Convention and working to increase membership in the association.
