Patients at Wesley at Dyersburg take a ride
on the wild side
You're never too old for a new experience, and patients at Wesley at
Dyersburg didn't hesitate to take a first-time ride on a motorcycle
when Boss Hoss Motorcycles stopped by the facility in July.
About five patients and several employees took rides around the block
on the custom-built cycles, and many others came outside to enjoy the
summer weather and hear the history of Boss Hoss cycles, a 12-year-old
Dyersburg company. For a few of the riders, it was their first time on
a motorcycle. For others, it was a reminder of wild days gone by.
"We
had several patients who got really excited about it," said JoAnn
Parker, activities director at Wesley at Dyersburg, who invited the
owners of Boss Hoss Motorcycles to visit the facility. "I'm always
looking for new and creative things for the patients, especially for
those who may not come out for anything else."
Parker says she tries very hard to keep the patients connected to the
community by inviting local businesses and organizations to the
facility. "A lot of folks in the community are just waiting to be
asked," she said.
Boss Hoss employees Rad Hunsley, Leonard Warren and Shawn Todd were
certainly happy to come by and show off Boss Hoss' newest creation:
the Boss Hoss Corvette Style Trike. The company builds about eight
bikes a week and ships them all over the world.
The Dyersburg State Gazette was on-hand to interview patients and snap
photos of the exciting road trip, and patients were treated to root
beer from the local K-N Root Beer Drive-In and popcorn after checking
out the bikes.
